Dear Macleay Valley Businesses,

As you are probably aware, the Frederickton to Eungai highway upgrade opened to traffic last Monday.

Unfortunately, works on the northbound roundabout at the Frederickton Interchange could not be completed before the new road was opened due to the need to maintain heavy vehicle access through the roundabouts at all times. This means that traffic passing through Kempsey and heading north will not be able to enter the new freeway at Frederickton, however they can continue to head north along the former highway (now Macleay Valley Way) and enter the freeway at the Stuart’s Point Interchange. The attached Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) map shows how the current traffic flows are working until the Frederickton roundabout is fully functional in August 2016

Anything you can do to assist in explaining this to our valued visitors to avoid motorists thinking they have to return to the South Kempsey Interchange for freeway access, is very much appreciated.

Council is also working with RMS to provide Variable Message Boards to alert south and north bound motorists to access points for South West Rocks as an interim measure until RMS installs the permanent signage.

Cheers,
